Over the summer of 2008 (during their second summer working at a whitewater outfitter in Harpers Ferry, WV) Lauren & Jon really hit it off, completely unexpectedly. Without realizing it, they had really fallen for each other in a relatively short period of time. They became so close that they couldn't be apart once the season ended. Jon had plans to work at an outfitter in Texas over the winter months, so Lauren joined him on his adventure. They had realized they had found something really special.

Almost a year later, while driving to New Jersey for a vacation & to visit family on July 12, 2009, they were having a very enjoyable conversation when all of the sudden Jon blurted out to Lauren that he couldn't wait anymore, he just knew that he wanted to spend his life with her & had to marry her! She pulled the car over & asked him if he was proposing to her — with a big grin he said he was & asked her if she would. Extremely excitedly, her grin matching his, she said "Yes, of course!" & they kissed in a loving embrace!

Shortly after they got back home from their vacation they went out to look at engagement rings together. On July 29th Jon took Lauren out to dinner at SOHO's. Towards the end of the nice, romantic dinner Jon took out a ring & proposed to her again! Afterwards they went over to Jon's parents' house to share the news & later they called Lauren's parents.
